Montazah Gardens (Alexandria)

Montazah Palace is a complex of royal palaces in Egypt located on an area of 370 acres in the Thani Montazah neighborhood, east of the city of Alexandria in Egypt. It includes two palaces: the Salamluk Palace, which was built by Khedive Abbas Hilmi II in 1892 as a resting place for him, and the Haramlik Palace, which was built by King Fouad I in 1925 to be a headquarters. The summer residence of the royal family, it also includes several other tourist facilities and hotels.

the date
The Montazah Palace and Gardens were built more than a hundred years ago. Khedive Abbas Helmy II ordered their construction in 1892 in an area that was deserted and isolated at the time. Khedive Abbas Helmy II was impressed by the area when he was walking on its beach with a musical band that was playing at the time, and he decided that the area would include a palace and summer gardens. The Khedive personally supervised the organization of the lush garden and gave it and the palace the same name: Al-Salamlik Palace. Then, in 1925, King Fouad I built the Haramlik Palace in the Italian style, at the hands of the Italian engineer Ferrucci and the Egyptian engineer Hassan Pasha Al-Adawi. Within the walls of the Montazah Palace there are tourist facilities that were established after the Egyptian Revolution to serve the public’s garden-goers, including restaurants, an integrated tourist center, playgrounds, and chalets. Montazah Gardens overlook five beaches: Aida, Cleopatra, Venice and Semiramis, in addition to a private beach at the Helnan Palestine Hotel, which contains a water sports and diving center.

The Alawite family continued to care for the park and gardens and considered it a major resort for the royal family until the era of Farouk I, the last king of the Alawite family in Egypt... until the July 23 Revolution occurred, which opened the park’s gardens and beaches to the general public. As for Al-Salamlek Palace, it was transformed into an upscale hotel, while the Haramlek Palace was opened in the wake of the revolution for the public to visit before joining the group of palaces of the Presidency of the Republic for Egyptian guests, including presidents and kings, to stay. In 1964 AD. A hotel called “Palestine Hotel” was built overlooking the charming Gulf... to witness the holding of the second Arab summit hosted by Egypt in Alexandria (from September 5 to 11, 1964 AD)... The first Arab summit was held in Cairo on January 13 of the same year, 1964 AD. .
